Williams’ health issues over the past few years forced her to step away from her popular talk show, The Wendy Williams Show, in 2021. The show ran for over a decade and featured some of Hollywood’s top celebrities.
Sherri Shepherd has served as the show’s primary guest host, leaving fans to speculate that she may be in line to scoop Wendy’s famous purple chair.
Williams has previously stated that chronic health issues, such as Graves’ disease and lymphedema, forced her to abandon the show. The deterioration of the talk show host’s career first surfaced when she fainted live on air in 2017.
Since then, Williams’ has struggled to mark a healthy return to the talk show circuit.
One of the many struggles Wendy has opened up about in the past is her battle with substance abuse.
The 58-year-old has checked into wellness facilities before and even talked about it on her show.
Williams also got candid about her divorce from her ex-husband, Kevin Hunter, in 2020, revealing he was fathering a child with another woman.
One day prior to a post on her show’s Instagram account announcing that she tested positive for Covid-19, Williams was admitted to the hospital for a mental assessment.
